Bring Home the Magic of Bastar Art by Vaiju Saraf
The mosaic design created mirrors the beautiful paintings outside a typical tribal house in bastar region. The stained glass colours were chosen to match the natural colours used by the tribes. The grout colour gives it the earthy look which gels with the tribal Dhokra art. The Bastar region of Chattisgarh specializes in Dokra art. This art is one of the earliest known method of metal casting. The dokra art dates back to the times of Indus-Sarasvati civilization. Mosaic designs are made by hand cut, coloured stained glasses. Mosaic art dates back to 3 millenium BC.
