Kharads are fine woven rugs that are made in the Kutch region of India. They are made from goat, sheep or camel wool and are always hand-woven.  Kharads come in both natural colours or dyed with natural vegetable colours.  Cotton and wool is used in making Kharads with cotton being used as the warp and wool as weft.
These fine pieces of hand-woven rugs are long lasting and have known to be used for 100 years!
While the number of weavers in Kharad making has come down in recent years there has been a revival of sorts with the beautiful weaving technique catching the attention of buyers both in India and outside. Beautiful motifs and patterns are woven to reflect the culture of the Kutch region and these exquisite pieces can be used to be spread on a floor or adorn a wall.
